The Evercade VS - Game Sack

hi and welcome to the sack of play in this episode i will take a look at evercade vs o vs blaze entertainment console now you may or may not remember that i talked about the original ever k portable system in a couple of different episodes well now it's in a factor of form of a home console that's much more within my reach obviously this place has all the same cartridges as the portable evercade but it's only in a form factor now that it's much more comfortable to handle at least in my opinion anyway let's take a look at this thing here is the evercade against inside the box you will find the medium sized console below which are the two game cartridges including data east arcade 1 and technos arcade 1 collections these contain a total of 18 different games below you get two USB controllers with extra long cores using the same button configuration and D-pad you will find on the original evercade portable system oh and also a USB power cable but no adapters ator for AC socket t the console itself has four USB slots for controllers there is also a power button that not only turns the unit on but also turns it off you have to hold it down for half a second to turn it on has a small usb jack for the power an hdmi jack that allows 1080p video and a button you can press when bored should be a reset button but it's only active in some games, curiously you have two separate cartridge ports under the cover on the front labeled one and two, right for you you can load two carts at the same time and if you do, all the games of both will be listed alphabetically on the menu screen unless you order them, let's go through some of the features of evercade versus before going into all the new games that i want to show you in preferences under display option you can choose some different aspect ratio pixel perfect is sharp how you will get is much better than HD MI on the original livercade laptop here is the arcade version of double dragon 2 on the original evercade which only produced up to 720p and here is the same game on the evercade compared to now the difference may seem subtle or

maybe you don't notice it at all depending on how you are watching this video but I definitely appreciate the 1080p output and the extra sharpness you can also add thin scan lines or even strong scan lines under the bezels option there are several backgrounds to choose from and luckily you can't choose any the theme is basically just what the main menu looks like under the sound you can adjust the overall volume for the system the network allows you to connect to your local wi-fi accessibility offers a high contrast mode but console menu language only allows you to choose different languages for the menu, as you would probably imagine on the controller to do whatever you want this is kind of a hacky solution for some of the cartridges that have less than ideal button mapping and a lot of them have a non-ideal bu tton mapping is really weird but at least the option is legal and support is an option you probably don't select. you will never ion but it has to be there to cover their asses credit lists all people including crowdfunding supporters and finally the secret allows you have to enter the code you get somewhere to do who knows what is a secret during the game you can press the button of the menu on the controller for a few different options you have a quick save and a quick load for the save states or you can just go to the normal save and load and choose from six different slots that give you a preview of where the save is located you can also look but don't adjust the controls but

you know what even if some of the older ones will let you adjust the controls but not the new cartridges that happens maybe a firmware update can fix this in some games like Gate of Doom these are inaccurate as booting does not pause the game and it doesn't tell you what the action buttons are you can also adjust the display options in the same way as the console preferences finally you can quit the game and exit the game menu the controllers themselves seem mostly okay you have more buttons on the shoulder now compared to the original arcade which is interesting as I said earlier I like to have a console version as portability is not very important to me but the unit is small enough to take it to your friend's house if you want really

it's an interesting version of the bus to move style games here you can take shapes and then throw them into matching shapes to make them disappear i like but the stage seems to never end and nothing happened so i ended up getting bored darwin 4078 is a vertical shooter where you evolve your ship i have the mega drive version which takes place three years later in 4081. i like it a lot more than this even if it's not great or else it's a little hard to see what's going on next with this door of doom makes you wander around an isometric world ruining a lot of baddies this is pretty funny if some rough block and chase is a pac-man clone that succeeds in the goal of making a much worse version of pac-man sly spy is one of the coolest games here it is an oriental data take on thunder and shinobi and it would be really fun if not for two things first is the chunky scroll which is very hard on the eyes the firmware p most recent does fix this som anyway in pixel perfect mode after the run and jump buttons are mapped to a and b plus they are back you can change it in the console menu but then they change for each game if you do whoever creates these cartridges really needs to talk then there is a tumble pop, this is a great little single screen game where you suck enemies in and then knock them out works similar to most single screen arcades of this type not bad the latest game is mage's fire this is gate of doom sequel and has much better graphics and audio is also quite fun and is a great sequel i am glad both games are next door is technos arcade 1 with battle volume 5 block out double dragon 2 double dragon 3 mania challenge minky monkey mysterious stones and tribes fighting tribe fighting I don't know Battle Lane vol 5 reminds me of an action fighter or a spy hunter with you on a motorcycle shoot on the screen is not horrible and of course it is a bit choppy is also very difficult so it will take

I think the reason for unstable scrolling in arcade games is because many arcade games have different frame rates than modern TVs, it would be nice to have the option to speed up or slow down the gameplay slightly so that it can match more of what you know we can see. on modern tvs a bit like the main one does now i am not sure if this can be fixed with a firmware update or not however i have 10 more cartridges to show you with 101 games between them i am not i will cover every single title but i will show you every cartridge so that you can get an idea of what it is

to play them here with a d-pad especially when the movement seems to be so fast it can be really hard to control maybe they could add compatibility for various USB spinning paddles and trackballs and whatnot but hey who doesn't want to play really crappy version of pong i would definitely pass on this cart although i have to say lunar lander is pretty funny next is jalico collection 1 with 10 games included bases astayan ax brawl loaded brothers connection city earth defense force operation logic bomb rival turf super objective two factor power up and totally rad there are a couple of decent fighting games on this as well as a couple of good games nes the good news is they map the controller correctly for super nintendo games although obviously the same button labels are different but that's ok , unfortunately they ignore the x button for everything else and skip again with the b d button el controller, I just don't understand why they fail to understand that people want to jump with the bottom button of the controller and attack with the left button on the nintendo sony microsoft diamond setup and hell even saw got it all straight away because you can't blaze remap via evercade os is kind of a mess and you have to change it back if you want to play super nintendo games because i cant change it to game based here otherwise this collection is not bad

i rented it but it has it here maybe there is a switch somewhere i haven't played long enough to find there are some racing games here too and the most interesting is definitely racing fever in general i have to say this cart didn't do much for me besides racing fever next is indie heroes with 14 games alien cat 2 and guna chain break dedus deader doodle world flea foxy land kubo 3 ployd quest stop super homebrew war twins dragons and ocuzan as you can imagine most of these are very simple games based on nes hardware or game boy in fact this cartridge is probably the only physical version for the great majority of these titles some games are not bad like foxy land which is based on genesis hardware don't get me wrong it's not even very deep, I don't care how some of the slimes move around the lagoon which makes them extremely hard to hit their casual ity is however very daunting if you like simple indie games this might be good for you to check out

here is a worm collection one really there will be a part two this has worms worms armageddon and worms blast i have never been interested in worm games but if you are then you will enjoy the only cool thing for me here is that i worm armageddon is a playstation game and the fmv and audio seem to work quite well otherwise they are just worms next is the codemasters collection one with 17 games here is b-52 big nose go crazy big nose the boomerang caveman kid cj's elephant antics cosmic cannon fodder space head f-16 renegade linus space head mega lomania mig-29 soviet fighter psycho pinball sensible football stunts strollers super skid scores tennis all stars and the latest stuntman there are many games here and of course they are of variable quality I never got much into codemaster stuff, this is not to say there are no funny titles here, but I really think you will like it a lot more if you are English if you are not appr oach with caution, some of these titles will have the worst audio you have ever heard, this is a collection from mega cat studios

here is tv collection 1 with 12 games you get astro smash buzz bombers swamp frog night stalker pinball princess shark search shark slap pro hockey snafu thin ice thunder castle and word rockets i have no nostalgia for intellivision and this may be the first time I've played it, even emulated, many of these games need a keypad that you can call up by holding one of the shoulder buttons if you like smarts you could kick it but I just can't get it in it Princess Quest is a newest game of 2014 like ghoul ghost, which is almost awesome
